For those who recognise the streets on the photos, I started at Leidseplein and walked from there to the bridge at Koningsplein from where I followed the Singelgracht. The beauty of the city for me lies not in what makes the city appealing. The beauty of Amsterdam for me lies in the little things that often go unnoticed yet are strangely typical for living in Amsterdam.

In the selection there are ten photos which highlight things which might look plain at first sight. When you have walked around in the city long enough all these things combined are simply aspects of life. Amsterdam is actually an expanded village which grew into a city which now includes a large region under Gemeente Amsterdam. Trade and culture once changed this swampy village into a Western metropolis.
